Disney Character Dining

If you love Food and Disney you’ll love the Character dining. I’ll be sharing our experiences at Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park at the Plaza Inn, Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast at Storyteller’s Cafe, Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel and the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure at Napa Rose.

The delicious food and fun entertainment is such a magical experience. The most common question I’m asked about character dining Is “Is it worth the price?” So let me break down the price, the food and the entertainment.

Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park – Plaza Inn
This breakfast is between $35-$59 for Kids & Adults

  • Before you even sit down at a table you get to meet Minnie and take a photo with her. The photo is included with your meal. I love that the cast encourages you to meet Minnie again throughout your meal or before you leave.
  • The Breakfast is Buffet style. It is super delicious with great variety of options. Note that there is no alcohol sold at this breakfast.
  • The Characters come by about every 15 minutes. They dance passed the tables to fun music. I do suggest taking video instead of trying to capture a photo. I feel that they don’t stay by your table long enough to capture a great photo.

Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast – Storyteller’s Cafe
This breakfast is between $35-$59 for Kids & Adults

  •  As soon as you get sat, the host hands out Storyteller Cafe pins to your entire party.
  • The Breakfast is Buffet style. This location also has items that you can get on the menu if you don’t see it in the Buffet. If you don’t see something you want in either place you can ask your waiter and if it’s available they’ll let you know. My favorite must have item isn’t in the Buffet, but from the menu. It’s the Tator tots and they’re included in your meal, just ask your waiter. This location also offers alcohol. So if you’re in the mood, they’ve got an excellent mimosa.
  • The Characters come by about every 15 minutes. They dance pass the tables to fun music. The Characters stand by your tables for photo opportunities at the end of their dance. I recommend video taping the dancing and then capturing pictures as they pose for you. Although there is not a meet and greet, they do spend a good amount of time by your table and are interactive with the children.

Goofy’s Kitchen – Disneyland Hotel
This breakfast is between $35-$59 for Kids & Adults

  • Before you even sit down you get to take a Photo. I will say I was a little disappointed that Goofy was not there to take a picture with us. We’ve been to this breakfast in the past and we were able to take a photo with him. This time, it was just us in the Kitchen.
  • The breakfast is Buffet style and I will say that I think out of all the Buffets this one had the most options. The variety is amazing and delicious. You can also get alcohol at this location. The mimosa flight is super yummy! 4 different delicious flavors.
  • The Characters come by about every 15 minutes. They dance pass the tables to fun music. They paused quickly, so a combination of video and pictures works well. I took video the first time they came out and pictures the second time they came out. Almost every Character played peek a boo with my daughter. She of course started it and they did it back.

Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure – Napa Rose
This breakfast is between $35-$59 for Kids & Adults

  • Before you sit down at your table, you get a meet and greet photo opportunity with 2 Princesses. For our experience it was Cinderella and Rapunzel. There is a vine of flowers on the floor so you cannot get to close, but you can still interact and take a picture with them.
  • The Breakfast is AMAZING! To start off, your waiter get’s your drinks and provides an assortment of breads and butter. The starters come out in a beautiful tower. I’ve captured pictures and video of all the goodies. The main course was buffet style. A smaller buffet selection but absolutely delicious. The Dessert comes out in another gorgeous tower of yumminess. Alcohol is sold and yes the mimosa is fabulous.
  • At the end of the meal our little one received a box with a beautiful necklace inside as well as a few other mementos.
  • I will say I was a little sad because the Princesses used to come around to your table while you ate and this is no longer done. They stay outside only.
  • Finally before we go on our way, we go outside to a coffee and tea area, where we wait our turn to see the Princesses. For our experience we saw Belle, Pocahontas, and Ariel. They also stood behind a vine of flowers on the floor but the interaction was wonderful. The photo opportunities were great.

Every dining experience was wonderful. I will say that I think the Princess Breakfast is such a wonderful experience. I suggest you do this at least once for the experience. If you have little kids I would wait until they’re old enough to fully enjoy it and all the courses that come with it.

Now, out of all the other Character dining experiences, I think the best Interaction and photo opportunities with the Characters was at Storyteller Cafe. They also have killer Chilaquiles and must have Tator tots.  I think the best Buffet options are at Goofy’s Kitchen. The menudo was my favorite surprise from there. For that extra magical feeling, you really can’t beat eating at the actual Park. Which is why I love the Plaza Inn. You also can’t pass up their signature delicious fried chicken and biscuits.

All in all, I think every character dining experience was worth the price. The food was delicious and the look on my child’s face seeing the characters, well that was priceless!
